At one point the wanderer needs to come down those cloudy heights of his. It’s the dawn of a new day over the milky lake.

Along the bay there are colorful houses at St-Valéry-sur-Somme.

Portree is Skye’s main town. It’s a very pretty place. The usual view people remember from Portree are the colorful houses lining the bay. I admit I really liked those little houses but I came across the view I painted while wandering down the city. It was a gloriously sunny day, and over the roofs, I spotted this particular riviera-esque view. I couldn’t quite get over the color of the sea.

It was the beginning of summer along the bay of Saint-Valéry sur Somme. Boats seemed to be hibernating somehow.

Saint-Valéry-Sur-Somme is a small town overlooking the Baie de Somme. The local authorities arranged a wooden path along the bay that spreads out to the sea. That day the sun was hot, the sky empty, the sea quiet. A perfect day for a walk before getting on the old steam engine that would lead us to the Crotoy and its large sandy beach.
