A corner of the street that I know best,
The melting pine,
My neighborhood.
A corner of the street that I know best,

My neighborhood.
Butter chicken for lunch,
A digestive stroll in the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont in Paris,
Sunday with sis.
When traffic comes to a stop,
I take a picture,
Going on a job,
a week or so before confinement.
Le bourdon. (The bumble bee). 2020. J.Harms. Acrylic on paper. 48×62 cm.
Confinement, introspection,
ones own garden one morning,
a bumble bee.
Jardin privé. 2020. J.Harms. Acrylic on paper. 29x39cm.
These are unusual times.
The weather is warming,
the sun is shining,
birds are singing,
but we are all confined indoors
to prevent a virus from circulating.
In French, « Jardin privé » which literally means « Private garden » , can also mean « deprived of garden » in a more poetic sense : « de jardin privé… »
A quince tree. 2019. J.Harms. Acrylic on canvas. 60x73cm.
In my opinion there is no better time than winter to paint a tree.
November or Lili in the Garden. 2017. J.Harms. 29x39cm Acrylic on paper.
This is a view from my studio/bedroom. It’s late afternoon, the light is poor, but the flamboyant color of the dogwood is quite eye-catching, it brings a vibrant touch to this murky November day. Lili, my cousin’s daughter, is not afraid of the gloomy weather, she’s out and about doing what children like doing.
Urban jungle 2015. Acrylic on white paper. 22×30,5 cm. J.harms. Edition of 29 limited prints.
The Date (see post) and this painting come from the same day of wandering around the Sacré Coeur. I couldn’t help but think that all these cars were like a pack of sleeping animals nestled in the urban jungle.
