It reminds me of books I read when I was young – they were children’s books, for boys, really, adventure stories from the 1930’s that I found at my grandmother’s house. Mysterious and full of challenges for the heroes. This painting is wonderful.
Thank you Claudia. I once discovered an old Atlas book from the 1920’s, and while going through it I realised there were whole places left blank. They were the unknown territories.
I have also always really liked that aspect of things, that there were places still unknown, and that is why I liked those books I mentioned so much. All about visiting exotic places and the adventures of travel.
Is that Gandalf striding on in the distance? It has a Tolkienesque feel.
